In November 2019, I attended the 67th Annual IAEM Conference and EMEX in Savannah, Georgia on behalf of the University at Albany College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity.
I attended informative breakout session, engaged in crucial networking, and even met the current acting FEMA Administrator Pete Gaynor.
The purpose of my trip to the conference was to present my poster on open-source intelligence. Open-source intelligence is a powerful tool for emergency managers and I am glad I had the opportunity to share my SWOT analysis with the over one-thousand conference attendees.
My poster received silver recognition in the competitive division. Additionally, I was the only undergraduate student participant in the poster showcase.
From being the first recipient of the Robert C. Bohlmann, CEM, Scholarship for Service in Emergency Management, to attending three annual conferences, the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) has been a powerful force in my educational experience.
